Non Ballet Classes
Though our name says Toledo Ballet, we also offer many other exciting dance forms for those who would like to study other disciplines or styles.
Jazz And Lyrical Jazz (ages 7 and up): Lyrical jazz is a very fluid “balletic” style of jazz, which requires very solid ballet technique. Jazz class requires black jazz shoes, and it is highly recommended that students study ballet as well to acquire proper technique.
Modern: Modern is an earthy and free flowing form of dance with elements of jazz, ballet and styles unique to itself. It is usually done without shoes.
Hip Hop (ages 9 and up): Hip Hop is an Urban form of street dance which can be seen as performed by today’s top artists like Justin Timberlake and Beyonce’. It incorporates aspects of jazz and funk and is constantly evolving with the times.
Musical Theater Dance: Musical Theater Dance pulls from many different styles including ballet, jazz and even hip hop. Dance combinations will be taught with a strong focus on the storyline of the particular musical that is being portrayed.
Tap: Al Gilbert technique will be used for Pre-Intermediate. Intermediate & Advanced will begin rhythm tap training. Dress requirements socks or tights, dance pants, shorts, leotards or tank tops. Requires hard sole tap shoes.

dance is a style of partner dance which
originated in the western world and is not
enjoyed both socially and competitively
around the globe.
Pilates: Pilates (pronounced puh-LAH-teez) is an controlled exercise program, a cross between yoga, stretching and calisthenics. Pilates:
- Enhances body alignment
- Strengthens the abs, back and stabilizer muscles
- Stretches, strengthens and relaxes your body
- When modified, is gentle enough for pregnant women, yet challenging enough for advanced exercisers.
- Incorporates exercises that target your abs, back and legs, making your body strong and flexible. Pilates class may be taken alone or as a compliment to ballet classes
Musical Theater:
This class includes instruction
in acting, dance and voice to
work on scenes from musical
theatre. In musical
theatre today, it is required
for dancers to be "triple
threats". Students will
learn the structure of what it
takes to become successful in
musical theatre. Voice
class is required for students
who take musical theatre class.
Voice: Students learn how to sing in a group atmosphere. Emphasis is on proper technique, using vocalizing to develop the proper muscles used in singing. Songs will be learned and used in conjunction with the musical theatre class.
Magie

This performing arts company incorporates
all styles of theatrical singing and
dancing. Performers in the company
will work on more avant-garde/contemporary
productions similar to Cirque du Soleil.

Yoga: Stretch and strengthen your body in a balanced way, while learning stress management techniques to relax. Comfortable clothes and yoga mat helpful.
AI stretching (Active Isolated Stretching): Is a healthier way to stretch for any and all ages, dancers, non dancers and athletes alike!
Qigong (pronounced "chee gung"):
This
ancient Chinese exercise promotes health by
connecting mind, body and spirit. With
proper use of breath, guided inner
visualizations and simple Tai Chi type
movements, a balanced flow of chi (life
force energy) circulates within the body's
energetic pathway.
